Hubert Horatio Humphrey Jr. (May 27, 1911 – January 13, 1978) was an American politician who served as the 38th vice president of the United States from 1965 to 1969. Herbert Friedman (1900-1987) was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 22, 1900. He received his bachelor's degree from City College and his PhD from Cornell University in 1923. He spent two years conducting fieldwork in Argentina, the Mexican border, and Africa. He was then appointed curator in the Division of Birds, United States National Museum, in 1929.
